Other than monogram chips, at the time this was the only chip known with different sides. The 3 chip sets came in some quantity, so the Star & Leaf patten is not an error or experimental chip. All 3 chips are listed in the 2002 supplement of Chip Codes to Antique Gambling Chips.

This is a 1 1/2 diameter standard size poker chip. The fancy scrimshaw shows almost all of the original black ink on both sides with only very light usage. The overall appearance of the black ink scrimshaw depends upon the depth of original engraving combined with amount of actual usage. This chip appears to have little to no use, with no cracks or chips , and is in fine condition overall. Note that the images are MUCH larger than the actual size and exaggerate the chip's detail. This would be perfect for any Professional Poker player, Saloon, Gambling hall, Texas Hold'em, Poker, Gambling, Gaming, Gambler, Casino, Chip, Poker Chip collection, and an interesting conversation piece. This chip is about 1 7/16 in diameter. Both sides have almost all of the black ink intact. Both sides have all the red border dye on both sides. Typically, the outside red vertical rims would show wear and chipping to the color from actual use when thrown into the pot; however, the vertical edge shows all of the orginal red coloration.
