It belonged to the prominent Bowditch/Loring family of Massachusetts. It recently came out of one of their museum like MA estates. The box is full of carved bone poker chips and two carved bone dice cups. The red one is in two pieces but can be repaired.
There are two black dice cups as well. They seem to be made of an early plastic, possibly Bakelite. The interior of the box is primarily lined in red leather. There are signs of old water damage on the lining. The top tray which is the most ornate and visible piece of the box has escaped the water damage it seems. The game pieces are of varying condition with some being cracked and others not. Some are ornately carved and others not.
The carved dice cups have extensively detailed scenes. Overall this box by one of the top makers and it's contents are well worth owning. I can supply more photos on request.
