Vintage Multicolor Bakelite 300 Game Counter / Poker Chip Set in Case
This is a Vintage Multicolor Bakelite 300 Game Counter / Poker Chip Set in Case. These items are an eclectic mix including gold and sterling jewelry, and many unique, and in some cases, one of a kind items, in wood, brass, and iron, and other materials as well. Among these items are two antique whist markers and two vintage bridge trump markers. There are also games and game related items including chess, draughts, dominoes, table top games, dice and dice cups. This is one of two sets being listed, one from this trip and one from an earlier trip.
The two sets are basically identical except that one is for a set of 300 (30 each in ten colors) and one is a set of 150 (25 each in 6 colors - plus a few extras). I think that attribution is likely correct. The set has chips / counters in ten different unique and beautiful colors. I think the set was nominally intended to be a set of 150 with 25 of each color.
It appears that one or two of each color were added perhaps as a safeguard against losing a chip. As found there are 159 chips, 27 each of three colors, and 26 of the other three, so there are a few more than the likely set size of 150. These counters are smaller than standard poker chips.
They are 1 / 2.54 CM in diameter. I noticed that the way the chips were manufactured, there are some slight variations both in diameter and thickness. The base and top measure 10 1/2" x 4 3/4". The body of the case is inset from that 1/2 on each of the four sides. The height is 3 1/2 tall not including the knob on top.
Turning the knob gently will unscrew the top from the base for removal to access the counters. Counters The counters are in excellent condition. The small variations in size and thickness are noted above. Case The finish on the case has some areas of scuffing and wear as seen in the photos, mainly at the lower corner of the base. There are some other spots as on the upper edges that are reflections, and not scuffs or scrapes The set is offered as found / as described / as seen with respect to those fairly minor issues.
